Meet the Capital Electric Team: Cody Rosgard, Purchasing Specialist and AV Extraordinaire
Cody is a versatile member of our team, handling everything from purchasing and inventory management to contributing his creative talents to our marketing efforts. With a strong background in warehouse operations and a passion for music and video production, Cody brings a unique skill set – a lot of passion – to Capital Electric.
Let’s get into the convo.
What inspired you to pursue a career at Capital Electric?
I started in the warehouse because I had over ten years of experience in similar roles at other companies. I was looking for a new opportunity when a friend (Mary’s son Benny!) mentioned Capital Electric was hiring.
It sounded like a perfect fit, eventually an opportunity presented itself to move into purchasing, and I’ve been here ever since!
What does a typical day look like for you at Capital Electric?
I’m currently in purchasing, but I also help out in the warehouse and contribute to our marketing efforts by editing videos and audio for our YouTube channel.
So my day could involve anything from unloading trucks to helping load products into customers' cars to working on prefab projects. Most days you can find me sitting at my desk working on purchasing or video edits though.
Capital keeps me on my toes!
Are there any specific rituals or habits that contribute to your productivity?
Coffee and being able to listen to Music.
Coffee is a ritual, right?
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The work-life balance here is something I really appreciate.
I’m a fan of how varied my days are, no two are the same and I love that I can balance my technical skills with my creative passions.
Mike and Mary are super supportive of that. They're like, hey, if you can bring some of that to the table and see what we can do with the company, let's get crackin’.
Have there been any significant learning experiences or professional growth moments?
Moving from the warehouse to purchasing was a big shift and I’ve learned a lot in the process (and enjoyed it!).
It was intimidating at first, but with support from the team I’ve been able to adapt and grow in the role. It was either sink or swim so I figured it was time to swim.
I’ve also been able to apply and grow my audio/video know-how on marketing projects, which has been a rewarding way to integrate my interests with my work.
How do you personally resonate with the values of Capital Electric?
Everybody does what they can for a customer. We'll bend over backward for them.
We want to get them their product and make the whole process as painless as possible. We’re working together toward one shared goal: please the customer and ensure their time with Capital is smooth sailing.
What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?
I’m really into creating music and working on audio engineering projects with other musicians (which I apply in my day-to-day here at Capital by doing videos and custom sounds for some of the units we sell).
I also love fishing, which is a great way for me to relax, unwind and recharge on the weekends.
What makes working at Capital Electric special for you?
I enjoy that I’m treated with respect and that my ideas are valued. It’s a supportive environment where everyone works together to achieve our goals, whether it’s purchasing decisions or new video projects, I feel like I’m contributing to Capital Electric’s success.
Is there a piece of wisdom or a lesson you've learned that you'd like to share?
Mike has a line that really resonates, “How we handle today’s situation defines who we are tomorrow”.
Share a fun or quirky fact about yourself that folks might not know.
I enjoy oldies music far more than anything modern, pretty much the only thing I listen to in my truck is the oldies station – I’m also partial to 80s
