Meet the Capital Electric Team: Kayla Lloyd, Marketing Specialist

Kayla is a key player on our marketing team with a knack for event planning and her ability to bring people together. Whether she's organizing our annual Brewery Tour or making sure every detail is perfect for our Brat Fry, Kayla's creativity and dedication shine through in everything she does.

Let’s get into the conversation.

What brought you to Capital Electric?

I was originally working at an insurance agency for a couple of years, mainly focused on event coordination and marketing. I ended up being pushed into sales and it just wasn’t right for me.

Luckily, I was friends with Mike’s son Adam and when he mentioned that Capital Electric was hiring, I didn’t hesitate to apply.

Eight years later, here I am!

What’s your role at Capital Electric and what are your primary responsibilities?

I started as an Inside Sales Rep, assisting Doug with his OEM customers. Over time though, I took on additional responsibilities, including event planning, some purchasing and helping out at the will-call counter.

Now, I focus on marketing and event coordination, handling everything from continuing education sessions and Lunch and Learns to our major customer appreciation events like the Brewery Tour and Brat Fry.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Event coordinating is definitely my favorite part.

I love coming up with a game plan and watching it all come together, especially when I see our customers and team enjoying themselves. Whether it’s CE training or those larger-scale events, there’s a lot satisfaction in seeing everything go off without a hitch.

It’s been a fulfilling journey that has allowed me to grow professionally while balancing my personal life.

How would you describe the team culture at Capital Electric?

We’re just a super tight-knit group. Most of us have been here for years and have collaborated on multiple projects, helping us get to know each other well.

The team is welcoming, especially to new hires, and everyone steps up when we hit crunch time.

We’re all in it together and that makes all the difference.

Have there been any significant learning experiences or professional growth moments?

When I first joined Capital, I had no industry experience—coming from insurance and a veterinary office background.

But thanks to Lori and Adam, who took me under their wings, I was able to learn and grow quickly. It’s been a steep learning curve to pick up knowledge on all the products we offer, but the support from the team has made it a rewarding experience.

How do you personally resonate with the values of Capital Electric?

The company’s values of teamwork and supporting each other align perfectly with my own. I’m a social person who is always willing to help out where needed, whether it’s assisting customers or jumping in on a project.

That can-do attitude is something I’ve seen echoed throughout the team, making it a great place to work.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?

The outdoors!

My family and I spend a lot of time fishing, hunting and tending to our giant garden.

Having fresh, homegrown food for most of the year is something special.

I also have three big ol’ dogs and we love spending time at the dog park.

Summer is spent swimming and boating on Pewaukee Lake. Our family land up north is another favorite retreat, where we do a lot of four-wheeling and spending quality time together.

Can you recall a favorite moment or event during your time at Capital Electric?

We weren’t sure how it would turn out but knew we wanted to do something fun for our customers, so we put together our first Brewery Tour…and it ended up being a huge success!

The atmosphere, food, beer and company were all fantastic, and our customers had a blast. It was such a hit that we decided to make it an annual event – and it’s something I look forward to every year.

What makes working at Capital Electric special for you?

It’s an easy place to work in the best possible way. We work well together as a team, and I genuinely enjoy coming to work. Unlike previous jobs where I dreaded the start of the workday, here I feel supported, valued and excited about the contributions I make.
