Meet the Capital Electric Team: Kayla Lloyd

What inspired you to pursue a career here?

I was working at an Insurance agency, and It just was not right for me. I was friends with Adam and he said he work was hiring. I applied and the rest is history.

What’s your role at Capital Electric and what are your primary responsibilities?

I started as an Inside Sales Rep., assisting Doug with his OEM customers. Shortly after I started, I also started helping at the will call counter and event planning. I recently shifted to marketing and continuing to do the event coordinating.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Event coordinating- I love coming up with a game plan and watching it all come together. From CE training and Lunch and Learns to our annual Brewery Tour (customer appreciation event) and annual Brat Fry.

How would you describe the team culture at Capital Electric?

Tight-Knit- most of us have been there for years and have collaborated on multiple projects. We’ve gotten to know each other well. We all work well together and want to see each other succeed.

Have there been any significant learning experiences or professional growth moments?

I had no idea what I was getting into when I started at Capital.  I had zero experience with anything in this field. I came from selling insurance, and before that I worked at a veterinary office for 5 years. I knew it was sales support but had no industry knowledge of the products we offered. Lori and Adam took me under their wings and helped me learn.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?

I love being outdoors. My family and I do a lot fishing and hunting. We also have a giant garden. I have 3 large dogs- we spend a lot of time at the dog park. In the summer I spend a lot time swimming and boating on Pewaukee Lake. We have family land up north- we spend a lot of time up there as well.

Can you recall a favorite moment or event during your time at Capital Electric?

Our first Brewery Tour- we had no idea how it was going to turn out- but we wanted to do something fun for our customers. It was a huge success. The brewery was awesome- the staff, atmosphere, food and beer- all of it was wonderful. Our customers had a blast. It was then we decided to make it an annual event.

What makes working at Capital Electric special for you?

Its an EASY place to work- by that I mean we work great together as a team. I enjoy going to work. I like my coworkers and what I do. I’ve had previous jobs that I dreaded getting ready for work.
