Meet the Capital
Electric team:

“We're a small fish in a big pond, so for us to stand out among other companies, we put in essentially double the work to compete…People know we're a small distributor and we still get the job done; often we do it even faster than larger corporations, which is why people choose to work with us.”

Meet the Capital Electric Team: Miles Meye, Warehouse Operations Specialist

Miles joined Capital Electric very recently, like 6 months ago recently, bringing years of experience from the construction industry.

Now, working with our warehouse manager, Nick, Miles has become a critical part of the operation, being involved in everything from inventory and prefab jobs to making timely deliveries.

In fact, he’s on the road so much, you might’ve met him in person already.

Let’s get into the convo.

What inspired you to pursue a career at Capital Electric?

After years in construction, I was ready for a change.

I came across Capital Electric and the role seemed like a great fit since I already had extensive experience with hands-on work like shipping and receiving. Plus, I’d worked for smaller, family-based companies before and loved the supportive, friendly environment you tend to feel. Capital is that to a T.

What's your role at Capital Electric and what are your primary responsibilities?

I work closely with Nick, our Warehouse Manager, where we handle shipping and receiving as well as prep work for customer orders. I’m also out on the road making deliveries, which I honestly love.

How did you get up to speed in the new role?

My first two weeks were in the middle of a big project which helped me a ton. I’m a hands-on learner so being able to jump right into things was right up my alley.

There are a lot of things here that necessarily aren't black and white. So just staying attentive and focused while being as busy as I was when I first started really helped me learn a lot of different aspects of the job; different customers, different products, different solutions.

Very hands-on all the time and you learn a lot every day that way.

Favorite aspects of your job?

Getting out of the warehouse and on the road to make deliveries is a happy place for me.

I get to connect with people on-site, and when you’re seeing familiar faces each week, you start to build those real connections.

On my regular delivery routes, I know some of our customers by name and we chat about hobbies outside of work. It’s meaningful.

How would you describe the team culture at Capital Electric?

Two words: friendly and open. We’re a small team of less than 15 people and the atmosphere is positive; we’re constantly sharing ideas with each other and our customers to improve what we do and provide the best solutions possible.

Everyone’s ready to pitch in and we all work together to keep things running smoothly—even on those days when we might get on each other’s nerves.

In general, we have each other's backs and really work together. It’s a close-knit group that makes it easy to feel at home.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?

I’m big into rock music—my dad and I recently went down to Illinois to catch Iron Maiden, which was epic. Outside of concerts, I spend as much time as I can fishing, traveling with my girlfriend, playing sports and working on hands-on projects.

Favorite Capital Electric moment

The annual brat fry fundraiser was a winner. The whole team and our clients got together for a fun day, the weather was perfect and it was just a great chance to connect with everyone outside the usual work setting.
